Retail Was Locked Out of VC for Decades. One ASX Code Changed That.

Venture capital was invite-only. Scalare Partners (ASX: SCP) put it on the exchange: 27 early-stage tech companies, one share, 360% lodged revenue growth.

For as long as venture capital has existed in Australia it has belonged to institutions and wholesale investors: minimum commitments, ten-year lock-ups, invitation only. The companies that became household names grew up inside that club. Retail got in at the end, if at all.

Scalare Partners (ASX: SCP) is the door that was not supposed to open. An ASX-listed company that operates founder communities, including Tank Stream Labs and Fishburners, and invests from its own balance sheet in the early-stage technology companies it meets there. 27 of them across fintech, healthtech, regtech, cleantech, SaaS and AI as at 31 December 2025. WithU, MyPass, CHI and Zondii among the names.

No fund. No minimum. No lock-up. Shares are traded on the ASX, subject to market liquidity. That is the difference between a venture fund and a venture company that happens to be listed, and it is the difference that puts this within reach of anyone with a brokerage account.

Revenue and other income up 360% on the prior corresponding period for the half-year to 31 December 2025, per the Appendix 4D lodged with the ASX on 27 February 2026. Includes revenue from businesses acquired during the period; growth was materially acquisition-driven, with Tank Stream Labs around 73% of service revenue. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. The full filing is on the ASX announcements platform under SCP.

The big end of town got there first. It always does. The filing has been public since February. The brief puts it in front of you in two minutes.

Trio-Tech's Fiscal 2026 in Four Reports: Revenue Up 72%, Gross Margin Down From 25% to 17%, Operating Profit Gone, and a $24.2 Million Backlog of Which $9.1 Million Is Labelled 'Soft'

The Singapore-run semiconductor test house reported on Sept. 24 that fiscal 2026 revenue reached $62.6 million while the year ended with an operating loss of $204,000 and a net loss of $34,000. Lining up its four quarterly releases shows gross margin held between 16% and 19% all year against 23% to 27% a year earlier, and the 10-K says $9,054,000 of the year-end backlog is a three-month demand estimate rather than firm purchase orders.
